Shot these cattails backlit by the late afternoon light last week, hiking along a trail in Vermont. I was surprised by the light….had my head down at the time, making my way back over a 2×4 “boardwalk” over Paran Creek. But back in the studio, there’s more…what was I sensing when I stopped for the shot? And how do I get that cold and silence into the image? How do I bring this print home and make it about more than just the thing?

Shop local….stop by this Saturday at Carol Moore’s Cooking Studio in Bayport where I’ll be joining local artisans for a holiday sale. Carol (aka the “Cooking Freak”) will be featuring her new, honey-lavender shortbread, and I’ll showcase new work from Indian Hill Vermont as well as Shetland prints treated with encaustic medium.
